We planned a last minute bbq get together with family and friends for labor day. Right before our guests showed up we spotted two very large owls in our large tree in front of the house. Needless to say they were the topic of most of the first hour of the bbq. We had a great time, but, I suck and didn't snap many pictures. I did get one shot of Ellie Jo, mostly due to her following me around saying "CHEEEEEESE" when I had the camera in my hand! This little gal melts my heart!

Enjoying the end of Summer!
As hard as Abbie, my friend, and I have tried to do lots of fun little Summer get togethers, things have just been too crazy to. We finally found a day to let the girls play in the water together. We even, finally, broke out Sophie and Ellie's slip in slide! It was a bog jot for the first 5 minutes then the girls pretty much stuck to the pool. We are sure going to miss these fun Summer days...Fall may be coming to quickly.

"Kettle" Drive!
Sophie's first official "Kettle" Drive! It was time to wean some of the calfs and move them to a new pasture, so our little Sophie Anne saddled up TJ and went to work with Alex. (Along with the help of my Mother In Law Fran and the ranch hands)
Sophie was a hoot to watch! She had so many different noises coming out of her to help herd the cattle, she is a true little kettle girl! =)
Once again Ellie Jo was sidelined...but she had a great time licking rocks! (yep LICKING ROCKS)
At the tale end Ellie Jo got to go for a little ride with Alex, happy happy happy girls!

Sunday Ride.
Sophie has been talking about riding a horse non stop for a few days now....so since Alex takes Sundays off for family time we headed out and saddled up TJ and Muddbutt.
Our little Miss Independent had to do everything herself.
Ellie Jo and I watched from the side, this little gal was not too happy that she was grounded and not up on the horse too!
Sophie was in Heaven and kept trying to get Alex to let go of the lead rope! We tried explaining to her that she needed to ride a little bit more before we could turn her loose, I don't think she agreed but she quit yelling at Alex to let go of her horse! =)
Miss Ellie Jo finally got to ride with her Daddy. These two little gals of ours sure do love horses. It will be fun to see how the ride as the grow!
